Most of the large Willamette neighborhood lies low along the banks of the Willamette and Tualatin Rivers. This historic community, along with its historic downtown area, is a great favorite of ours. No, it doesn’t have graceful sidewalk boulevards or tree-lined streets. Not every home is well cared for and not every yard is well tended. But the neighborhood is charming, perhaps just because of its casual, laid-back nonchalance. Most homes are older and many have historic significance. You’ll find cottages, craftsmen, bungalows, Victorians, and farm houses. Willamette is a shabby-chic wonderland, just waiting for thoughtful restoration.
